The national coordinating team has designed posters that can be downloaded for local groups to print. If local groups would like to ad local sponsors to the poster please contact the national coordinating team for assistance. We will coordinate logo changes to customize local posters. |

What is a sustainable mode of transportation? |

A:
|
Sustainable modes of transportation include: walking, cycling, carpooling, taking transit and tele-commuting. These modes are significantly less harmful to the environment and personal health than driving alone. Do I have to participate every day of Commuter Challenge week? |

In order to be included as a participant in the national challenge, you must have used a sustainable mode of transportation at least once to get to or from work. However, the more days you participate, the more chances you may have to win prizes and the more significant your contribution will be to the environment and your personal health. |

Can students from elementary and secondary schools participate in Commuter Challenge? |

A:
|
Yes, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Challenge. However, only adult participation is included in the final results. Participation from children and youth is counted separately in the results section of the Web site under Schools. |

I am not familiar with the Web site. Is someone available to walk me through the Web site? |

Once I’ve registered, why do I have to return to the site? |

A:

Registration for the Challenge begins in spring. Participants must return to the Web site during the results submission period to record their sustainable trips from Commuter Challenge week (June 1 – 7, 2008). Registrants must have results submitted in order for their participation to be included in the official results and eligible for prizes. |

No. All individual participants must register each year. |

When can I submit my results? |

Results submission begins the first day of the Challenge and closes the Friday of the next week. This year, results submission will be from June 1 to 7. |

Am I able to submit results on behalf of my workplace or group? |

A:
|
Yes. Workplace coordinators or administrators are able to submit group results on behalf of other participants. Simply login to the Commuter Challenge Web site and you will have a “Submit Group Results” option. You will need the number of participants and the combined number of kilometres traveled for each sustainable mode used during Commuter Challenge week. Please contact the national coordinating team for details. |

How are winners determined? |

Communities and national/provincial workplaces winners are declared based their percentage of participation in each population category. Local winners are also determined by community coordinators base on different criteria including percentage of participation, most days participated, most kilometres traveled sustainably, etc. Individual winners are also drawn at random among all participants to receive various prizes from sponsors. |
